Adinath temple is an ancient Hindu temple located in Maheshkhali Island in Cox's Bazar district. This holistic temple is placed on the top of "Mainak Hill", about 85.3m above sea level with a total area of around two hundred acres of land that was donated by a Muslim landowner named Nur Mohammad Shikdar.
Hindu God “Shiva” is worshiped here as Adinath by the followers. The placement of this temple on a beautiful isolated island surrounded by the Bay of Bengal attracts so many travelers every year.
This temple is famous for the 13 days long annual fair that draws a large number of Hindu followers across Bangladesh even from India, Nepal & Myanmar. The fair took place at the bottom of the “Mainak Hill” in the month of “Falgun” as per Bengali calendar. This is a 15 minutes speedboat ride from Cox’s Bazar to Maheshkhali Island. Travelers also can reserve engine boats from Cox’s Bazar dock to go there.
