Sundarban, the largest mangrove forest of the world is located in India and Bangladesh where 60% of the area of this forest is in Bangladesh. This is the largest littoral mangrove belt in the world, stretching 80km (50mi) into the Bangladeshi hinterland from the coast. The area covered by this forest is measured to 4110 square km. The forests are not just mangrove swamps though; they include some of the last remaining stands of the mighty jungles which once covered the Gangetic plain.

 

Royal Bengal Tiger, the signature beast of Bangladesh is found only in Sundarban of this country. Therefore, visiting Sundarban will give you the opportunity to meet one of the finest animals of the world. In addition, a traveler will find the salt water crocodile, mugger crocodile, Gharial, the Water monitor lizards and other fascinating reptiles. Various types of birds, the spotted dear, monkeys and some others species are found in Sundarban.
