Mongla Port is the second largest sea port of Bangladesh. It is located at Bagerhat District of Khulna Division which is 48 km away from Khulna city. It is surrounded by Sundarban. Once, the port was busy despite of its small size. However, the port often remained closed for dredging so that the ships coming here can anchor properly. At present, about 400 ships berth at the port in a year and the port annually handles about 3 million MT of imports and exports. The port has 11 jetties, 7 shades for loading and unloading of goods and 8 warehouses.
