Sonargaon is the lost city of Bengal, located in Narayanganj district, near Dhaka. This city is considered as the oldest and one of the first capital of Bengal; includes some historical places like: Panam City, Khasnagar Dighi and Lok Shilpa Jadughar (Folk Art and Craft Museum).
Panam City is a 19th century establishment used as a trading center of cotton fabrics during the British period. Most of the residents are Hindu merchants and they built their house by following colonial style. After 1965 this city became vacant and now protected by Bangladesh Government as a historical place.
Khasnagar Dighi or Khasnagar Lake is beautiful lake located in Khasnagar Village, Sonargaon. This village and the lake also has some historical significance in the history of Sonargaon.
Lok Shilpa Jadughar also known as Folk Art and Craft Museum was established by famous painter Jainul Abedin on March 12, 1975. This is the best place to visit Bengali folk art and craft to understand the history. The house inside the museum is known as Bara Sardar Bari which was built in 1901.
