Nature in Dhaka covers only a small part of Dhaka city and is best for a day trip. The National Zoo of Bangladesh also popularly known as Mirpur Zoo to the local people, located at a distance of 16km from the city center at the bank of river Turag in Mirpur. This zoo facilitates around 1400 animals and birds belonging to 127 species with a large collection of local animals as well as some rare animals from around the world. This zoo is enriched with the presence of Royal Bengal Tiger along with Lions, Panthers, Deer, Monkeys,Chimpanzees, Pythons, Crocodiles, Elephants and colorful Birds where the latest addition was Kangaroo and Tapir. The National Botanical Garden, situated near Mirpur Zoo is a nice place to visit for the nature lovers on the area of 205 acres of land with a huge collection of local and foreign plants. The mainattractions are 100 types of Rose and Bamboo and the old Banyan tree where you can hang out, go for a nice refreshing walk or just meet the nature!!! Chatbari Bot Tola, an open recreational place located in Chatbari, Mirpur on the bank of river Turag where you can have different flavored tea under a 250 years old Banyan tree or take a short boat ride and spend a beautiful evening!!!
