Barisal, the “City of Pond” is located in south west part of Bangladesh. Old name is “Chandra Dweep” or “Moon Island” also known as the "Venice of the East" or the "Venice of Bengal". Barisal division is one of the most important river port, situated on the bank of Kirtonkhola river. The great Bengali leader Sher-A-Bangla A.K. Fazlul Haque, poet Sufia Kamal, Jibonaondo Das, Mukunda Das was born in Barisal.
“Durga Sagar” the southern largest lake of Bangladesh, located in Babuganj, Madhabpasha village 11 kilometers from Barisal city with a total area of 2500 hectares.
“Baitul Aman Mosque Complex” the most beautiful mosque in Bangladesh located in Guthia, Barisal. Beside the beautifully architecture, there is a madrasa building next to the mosque, joined by a covered walkway. There are acres of park-like, manicured gardens planted with flowers, shrubs, fruit plants etc. of various varieties. There is a nursery within that aspires to sell to the public.
