Khagrachari, locally known as "Chengmi" is a hill district located in south-eastern Bangladesh. It is also known as “Phalang Htaung” or the “Mong Circle” which means (of the rest of the three hill districts Rangamati is the Chakma Circle and Bandarban is the Bohmong Circle).
Khagrachari is the home town of the Mong King Saching Prue Chowdhury who is the chief of the Arakanese descendants.
Alutila Tourist Spot, located 5 km from the main town is an amazing place to visit with two prime tourist attractions called Alutila Waterfall, a 150 meter tall waterfall and the famous Alutila Mysterious Cave, a natural cave with a length of 282 feet.
There is hundred years old Banyan tree located at Matiranga, 3 km from Khagrachari bus stand is a historical spot to visit which is locally known as Satyabarshi Banyan Tree.
“Mohalchari lake”, a beautiful artificial lake located in Mohalchari which is a must visit place in Khagrachari and 25 km south from Khagrachari there is another lake called “Dighinala Manikker Dighi” which is also a popular tourist spot in Flickering Khagrachari.
“Arannya Kuthir” a beautiful architectural tourist spot where the largest Buddha sculpture of Bangladesh is situated which is called “Panichari Brihot Buddha Sculpture”, the most visited place in Khagrachari.
