Swandip, also known as “Sandvip” is an small island located in south-eastern part of Bangladesh in Chittagong district. This island is 50 km long and 5-15 km wide which includes 34 villages with a total population of 400,000 people.
This is the most ancient island of Bangladesh with some historical significance. It is about 3000 years Old Island where Portuguese and Arakanese bandit create their stronghold during the 17th century and some of the architectures on the island reflect this part of the island’s history. Maximum local from this island work overseas and contributing on the country’s economy and others are farmers or fishermen in occupation.
